Inter’s transfer business this summer shows the club want a clean slate after the trials and tribulations of last season, according to Il Messaggero.

The Nerazzurri were comfortably inside Serie A’s top three until Mauro Icardi, Ivan Perisic and Luciano Spalletti took centre stage in a series of public spats.

The drama nearly denied the club a second consecutive participation in the Champions League and Beppe Marotta has no intention of letting it happen again.

Spalletti and Perisic have both departed Inter already, while Icardi is almost certain to follow them out of the door before the transfer window shuts.

Inter have turned the page on last year’s drama and are now looking to the future with Antonio Conte and Romelu Lukaku.

Marotta has reinforced the squad in order to make it competitive with Juventus and is targeting another two signings this month,

Conte wants another midfielder and an extra wing-back as he attempts to bed in his new 3-5-2 system.

Whoever arrives in the final few weeks of the window, they are unlikely to live through a repeat of last season’s soap opera.
