Mauro Icardi is being pressured to accept a move to Napoli by the Partenopei’s head coach Carlo Ancelotti, according to La Repubblica.

Napoli are expected to complete a deal for PSV Eindhoven winger Hirving Lozano soon, but they remain keen on making another high-profile signing up front.

Aurelio De Laurentiis believes the Azzurri still have a chance of beating Juventus and Roma to Maurito and is in constant contact with the striker’s wife and agent Wanda Nara.

“This game of chess will continue for a few more days and then Icardi will have to make his decision,” the paper confirmed this morning.

Icardi’s formidable goal-scoring record and relatively young age have convinced Napoli he would be the perfect addition to their attack.

Inter have accompanied their former captain to the exit door but Icardi appears to be waiting on a move to Juventus.

The Bianconeri must trim their own squad before moving properly for the 26-year-old and this gives both Napoli and Roma a chance to take advantage.

Antonio Conte excluded Icardi from every preseason friendly at Inter and recently welcomed Romelu Lukaku to the club as his replacement.
