Ivan Perisic’s agent refused to rule out a return to Inter today after the midfielder completed a move to Bayern Munich.
The Croatian has signed on loan with an option to buy and could see his move made permanent for €20 million next summer.
Frane Jurčević, a close friend to Perisic and one of his representatives, said the player was ‘very, very happy’ about the transfer.
He told Sportske: “Ivan is more than satisfied about everything. Inter are exceptional as well but this is another step forward.
“You can never say never when it comes to going back to Inter, but I can’t respond to this question. They left each other on friendly terms.”
Jurčević then revealed Antonio Conte was ‘surprised’ when Perisic told the Inter boss he was about to leave.
“After the media reported he was no longer counting upon Ivan, Conte went over to him in training and said he was annoyed with these journalists for having written rubbish,” he explained.
“He then said: ‘Ivan, keep working hard, you’re a top player. I see you playing for me as a striker and you have nothing to worry about’.”
Bayern’s arrival on the scene changed everything and convinced Perisic it was time to leave the Nerazzurri, having joined the club in 2015.
However, it took the player and his entourage a little while to talk themselves round after discovering the Bavarians were only offering a loan deal.
Jurčević continued: “We spent the whole night together, talking and evaluating everything, and then at a certain point Ivan said: ‘I’m a battler and I believe in myself. I’m going to Bayern, I think this is the right step for my career’.
“It was the right moment to leave and he’ll play in his favoured position. Those are the factors which persuaded him to accept the move.”
Perisic has scored 40 goals in 162 appearances for Inter but will now continue his career in the Bundesliga.
