Giorgio Chiellini has dismissed talk suggesting Inter could sell Mauro Icardi to Juventus this month.
The Bianconeri are known to be the striker’s preferred choice but it seems Inter do not wish to negotiate with their arch rivals.
Paulo Dybala could switch clubs with Icardi in a swap deal but Juventus appear to be similarly unenthusiastic about that idea.
Following yesterday’s traditional in-house preseason friendly at Villar Perosa, Chiellini told La Stampa: “We have some great attacking players. Let’s think about our group so we can stay compact and help each other through a long season.
“Paulo is relaxed in training and he doesn’t need my advice. His current situation is part of football, we’re aware of the situation and we’re professionals.”
Chiellini then had a word of warning for his former boss Antonio Conte, saying he was under pressure to deliver following Inter’s high-profile summer recruitment campaign.
The defender added: “Conte, Godin and Lukaku are top level signings that can make the difference. Inter have nowhere to hide this season.”
Inter will play Juventus at San Siro on week seven of the new Serie A season.
