Inter are favourites to sign Barcelona’s outgoing midfielder Arturo Vidal, according to Catalan newspaper Sport.
Vidal was surprisingly left out of Ernesto Valverde’s match-day squad for tomorrow’s first La Liga fixture against Athletic Bilbao.
Paris Saint-Germain are also interested in the 31-year-old, but they would only sign Vidal as part of a wider deal taking Neymar back to the Nou Camp.
Barca are prepared to sell the Chilean international for €20 million, having signed him from Bayern Munich for a similar fee twelve months ago.
Vidal scored just three goals in a mixed debut season for Barca and is not considered untouchable by the club’s hierarchy.
Antonio Conte spent three years working with the player at Juventus and has asked Inter to seek a last-minute deal.
Reports in Italy this week have suggested Inter have limited financial resources for another signing in midfield this month.
It remains to be seen whether the Nerazzurri can afford to meet Barca’s €20 million asking price, or whether they can convince them to let Vidal leave on loan.
