Ivan Rakitic is more likely to rejoin Sevilla than sign for Inter if he leaves Barcelona this month, according to El Gol Digital in Spain.

The Croatian faces the prospect of having his game time drastically reduced in Catalonia, following the arrival of Frenkie de Jong from Ajax.

Inter were linked with the midfielder earlier in the year as they sought a high-profile reinforcement with international experience.

However, it appears Rakitic would be more inclined to move back to Andalusia, where he has always felt at home.

Rakitic scored five goals and created 10 assists last season as Ernesto Valverde’s side won La Liga and reached the Champions League semi-finals.

One of the midfielder’s European assists came in a 2-0 win against Inter last October, after Barca were drawn in the Nerazzurri’s  group.

Inter’s Croatian contingent has been reduced to just one this summer after Ivan Perisic left to join Bayern Munich.

Sime Vrsaljko made it three players alongside Marcelo Brozovic in August 2018, but the full-back was forced to curtail his loan spell from Atletico Madrid due to injury.
