Napoli have not lost hope of signing Mauro Icardi from Inter before the transfer window closes, according to Sky Sport.

Aurelio De Laurentiis is preparing a substantial offer for both the Nerazzurri and the striker, with whom the Partenopei are still in constant contact.

Carlo Ancelotti and several Napoli players have also reached out to Icardi in an attempt to convince him to make the move.

Napoli have enjoyed a proud history with Argentine players in recent times, among which Diego Maradona and Gonzalo Higuain.

Icardi has yet to make a decision regarding his future but time is running out for Inter to strike a deal with any club.

Juventus and Roma are the other sides thought to be interested, with the 26-year-old seeming to prefer the Bianconeri for logistical reasons.

Joining Napoli would require Icardi to either lose contact with his family or move everyone down to the south of Italy.

It has frequently been reported that this is the true factor behind Juve’s appeal, more so than the chance to win titles or play with Cristiano Ronaldo.
