Antonio Conte has reached a ‘verbal agreement’ with Arturo Vidal for the midfielder to join Inter, according to reports in Chile.

El Mercurio said Vidal had called his former coach to tell him he was ready to leave Barcelona and join the Nerazzurri.

Inter’s biggest problem remains Barcelona’s asking price, which is reportedly fixed at €20 million.

Beppe Marotta and Piero Ausilio would want to complete a deal for Vidal on loan, having already spent copious amounts of money this summer.

Conte helped Vidal become a world class midfielder while the pair worked together for three seasons at Juventus.

The Chilean international scored three goals and created seven assists for Barca last year, as Ernesto Valverde’s side secured another La Liga title and reached the Champions League semi-finals.

Inter want another midfielder before the transfer window closes but they have limited financial resources to bring someone in.

Sergej Milinkovic-Savic has also been linked with a move to San Siro, but the Lazio midfielder is expected to cost too much.
