Inter’s former goalkeeper Walter Zenga has encouraged the club not to sell Mauro Icardi before the transfer window shuts.

The Nerazzurri’s former captain was heavily linked with a move to Roma this week, but Edin Dzeko’s decision to sign a new deal in the capital saw that fall through.

Maurito is eager to join Inter’s arch rivals Juventus during the next two weeks, but Zenga today urged his former side to think twice before letting him go.

He told Radio Sportiva: “I’d keep Icardi, even though there are certain things we’re not aware of on the outside.

“I think a player with his goal-scoring record, even if he’s a bit anarchic and detached from the rest of the group… I’ve always liked him.

“If I were Inter I’d ask Wanda Nara not to go on television anymore.”

Wanda renewed her contract with Mediaset’s weekly prime time show Tiki Taka last week, having made a series of controversial comments last year which led to Inter stripping Icardi of the captaincy.
