Juventus are worried Paulo Dybala could help Inter beat them to the Serie A title if they swapped the forward for Mauro Icardi, according to Tuttosport.

The deal could only happen in the final few days of the transfer window, if both clubs decided they did not want to deal with their in-house problems any longer.

It is by no means guaranteed, though, not least because Dybala has not lost hope of reviving his career with the Bianconeri.

“Dybala certainly views a move to Inter, where he would be reunited with Beppe Marotta, with a favourable eye,” the paper reported this morning.

“But in the last few days he has been overcome with doubt, as well as the belief he could become a key player for Juventus again.”

Edin Dzeko’s decision to sign a contract extension with Roma has pushed Icardi ever closer to joining the Italian champions.

Juve’s sporting director Fabio Paratici is in no hurry to arrange a deal, though, safe in the knowledge that Inter have a far bigger issue to deal with than they do with Dybala.

La Joya could be sold for as much as €85-90 million if the Bianconeri can find a buyer from abroad, perhaps Paris Saint-Germain.

Paratici much prefers this scenario, followed by a subsequent cash-only deal for Icardi, to a direct swap with Inter.
