Romelu Lukaku needed help from local police authorities to leave Inter’s training ground on Thursday, according to Tuttosport.

The striker was swamped with supporters requesting selfies and autographs, making it difficult for himself and his teammates to depart Appiano Gentile.

Inter supporters are going mad for their new forward after Lukaku signed for an initial fee of €65 million earlier this month.

The Nerazzurri’s official club stores have already received countless requests for shirts printed with his name, although official numbers will only become known at a later date.

Contrary to reports in Corriere dello Sport today suggesting Lukaku was still overweight, TS assured the striker’s condition was ‘already good’.

The 26-year-old completed most of Manchester United’s training sessions in preseason, despite sitting out every friendly match, and is coping well with Antonio Conte’s intense workload.

Lukaku made his first unofficial appearance of the new campaign last weekend, scoring four goals as Inter beat Virtus Bergamo 8-0.

Inter are considering arranging another practice match at Appiano Gentile before their first Serie A fixture against Lecce, which is now only nine days away.

The fixture will take place tomorrow and should pit Conte’s side against another club from Serie C or Serie D.

Lukaku does not have 90 minutes in his legs yet and that is unlikely to change in time for the match at San Siro on 26 August.
