Inter remain adamant they will not sell Mauro Icardi to Juventus this summer, according to Corriere dello Sport.
The Nerazzurri’s president Steven Zhang publicly stated the striker would never join the Bianconeri back in February, days after Icardi was stripped of the club captaincy.
Despite the club’s clear desire to offload their former skipper, Zhang’s position has not changed since then, improving Napoli’s chances of securing Maurito’s signature.
The veto on a move to Juventus means Inter will not accept cash offers for Icardi or agree to swap him with Paulo Dybala.
Icardi has always enjoyed a strong relationship with Zhang since he became president towards the end of last year.
However, Zhang has backed Inter’s hard-line stance to the hilt this summer and shown no sign of wanting to reconsider his position.
Antonio Conte has excluded Icardi from every preseason friendly since being appointed head coach, only allowing him to participate in certain parts of training.
Time is running out for the 26-year-old to secure a move away from Inter, but he will not be reintegrated into the first-team fold if he stays.
