Inter and Juventus have not lost hope of signing Federico Chiesa this month, according to Tuttosport.
Fiorentina’s club manager Giancarlo Antognoni last night admitted the forward was displaying signs of ‘unrest’, having been denied a move to the Bianconeri earlier this summer.
Chiesa scored on Sunday as Vincenzo Montella’s side beat Monza in the Coppa Italia, but Fiorentina did not make him captain in that match despite Giuseppe Pezzella’s absence.
Milan Badelj was given the armband instead, suggesting the Viola are adopting a hard-line approach to their star player’s discontent.
Fiorentina’s new owner Rocco Commisso has repeatedly made it clear he has no intention of selling Chiesa this summer.
But the club are finding it ever harder to hide the forward is unhappy at present, giving Inter and Juventus hope of a last-minute deal.
Chiesa agreed personal terms with Juventus in June and was eagerly looking forward to playing with Cristiano Ronaldo this year.
However, Juve cannot move for the player again during the next fortnight unless they can trim their squad first, especially in attack.
Inter made a fresh approach to Fiorentina recently, with Beppe Marotta promising Commisso they would sign the Italy international next summer.
It remains to be seen whether Chiesa’s restlessness will force his new owner’s hand before the transfer window shuts on 2 September.
