Romelu Lukaku and Lautaro Martinez are expected to start up front together for Inter when they play Lecce next Monday, according to Gazzetta dello Sport.
Both forwards started yesterday’s unofficial friendly match against Gozzano at Appiano Gentile, which Antonio Conte’s side won 2-0.
Lukaku scored following an assist from Matias Vecino while Lautaro got some much-needed game time under his belt.
Sebastiano Esposito is ready to step in for either player if Conte decides one of them is not fit to face the newly-promoted side.
Neither Lukaku nor Lautaro has reached peak fitness yet and it is doubtful they will have 90 minutes in their legs at San Siro.
Matteo Politano scored Inter’s other goal against Gozzano from the penalty spot, under the watching gaze of Beppe Marotta, Javier Zanetti and Dario Baccin.
GdS said Conte had received ‘important indications’ from the practice match and now has seven days to prepare for Inter’s first Serie A fixture.
Inter’s XI vs Gozzano (3-5-2): Handanovic; D’Ambrosio, De Vrij, Skriniar; Candreva, Vecino, Brozovic, Sensi, Asamoah; Lautaro Martinez, Lukaku.
