Alexis Sanchez moved closer to joining Inter tonight after the striker was left out of Manchester United’s squad for their Premier League match against Wolves.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer left the Chilean out of last weekend’s opening fixture against Chelsea and he was nowhere to be seen again on Monday.

Sanchez is reportedly edging towards a Serie A return, with Inter offering an initial loan deal followed by an option to buy.

Matteo Darmian, who has also been linked with the Nerazzurri, was also left out of Solskjaer’s 18-man squad.

Antonio Conte wants another reinforcement up front before Inter begin their league campaign against Lecce next week.

United cannot complete any incoming deals as the Premier League transfer window closed two weeks ago, but they can still sell players to clubs abroad.

Sanchez scored just once for United in the league last season as Jose Mourinho and Solskjaer led them to a sixth-place finish.

He also played for Arsenal before moving to Manchester, with previous spells in Europe coming at Barcelona and Udinese.
