Wanda Nara today confirmed Mauro Icardi will not leave Inter to join Monaco.

The Ligue 1 club were reportedly prepared to make a huge investment on the Nerazzurri’s former captain, who is surplus to requirements under Antonio Conte.

But Maurito has never seemingly entertained the idea of a move abroad, instead preferring to remain closer to his family in Italy.

Speaking to TyC Sports earlier, Wanda said: “Mauro won’t go to Monaco.”

Juventus and Napoli are the only clubs left in the running for Icardi, following Roma’s decision to extend Edin Dzeko’s contract last week.

The Bianconeri are thought to have been the striker’s first choice for several months, but they cannot move for Icardi until they sell at least one between Paulo Dybala, Mario Mandzukic and Gonzalo Higuain.

Napoli made a huge push to sign Icardi in the summer of 2016 and it seems Aurelio De Laurentiis is launching another charm offensive in the final two weeks of the transfer window.

Icardi’s desire not to move too far away from his children would appear to exclude any possibility of a move to the Partenopei, however.
