AC Milan were urged to make a bizarre move for Mauro Icardi this morning by Il Giornale columnist Franco Ordine.

Inter have two weeks to persuade their former captain to leave the club, but Maurito only seems prepared to accept an offer from Juventus.

Ordine, who is a known Rossoneri supporter, argued the move would prove beneficial to both clubs, but suggested it might also be appealing to Icardi and his wife Wanda Nara.

He wrote: “At this point it’s a pertinent question: why have Milan never thought about knocking on Beppe Marotta’s door to discuss a deal for Icardi?

“It could please Mauro and Wanda who don’t want to move very far; Inter certainly wouldn’t oppose the move because they consider Juventus to be their main rivals for the Scudetto this season; and it would be plausible for Milan to play Icardi alongside Krzysztof Piatek.

“Adriano Galliani defended Wanda recently from Italian football’s shameless chauvinism and confessed he would have signed Icardi if his Monza side were in Serie A. Imagine if he were still in charge at Milan…”

Reporting the story, FcInter1908 confirmed there were no talks in progress between Inter and Milan and made it clear the Rossoneri could not afford Icardi’s wages.
