Romelu Lukaku and Lautaro Martinez have five days to improve their understanding before Inter play Lecce at San Siro, Corriere dello Sport warned this morning.

Both players are expected to start up front when the Nerazzurri begin their new Serie A campaign on Monday, with Alexis Sanchez likely to arrive too late.

Antonio Conte started the pair together in Sunday’s practice match against Gozzano, but they will need to work hard in training this week to build on their first outing.

CdS reported: “You could see Lukaku and Lautaro were looking for each other, even if they haven’t found a proper understanding yet. And it would be a mistake to think it was only the Argentine trying to set up his Belgian teammate.

“Lukaku showed he was capable of linking play too, and in fact it was more often him who set up Lautaro to shoot towards goal against Gozzano.

“Evidently, they will need to play better together against Lecce.”

Conte will resume training at Appiano Gentile tomorrow ahead of Inter’s big kick-off on 26 August.
