Juventus may be forced to break their promise made to Mauro Icardi if they cannot sell any of their forwards this month, according to Gazzetta dello Sport.
The Bianconeri vowed they would make a move for the Inter striker before the transfer window closed on 2 September.
However, Paulo Dybala seems likely to stay now while Gonzalo Higuain and Mario Mandzukic are also still on the club’s books.
GdS reported: “With the way things are now it’s impossible Juventus can keep their pact with Icardi, but those at the Continassa are not giving off that vibe at the moment.
“This explains the striker’s current approach, but the impasse cannot continue for much longer.”
Inter are hoping Icardi’s desire to play football will persuade him to leave the club during the next fortnight, instead of staying put and opening the door to a legal dispute.
Juventus are likely to have the last word on the 26-year-old’s immediate future, though, given they are the only club Icardi seems willing to accept.
The paper warned Icardi that the time had come to choose between ‘prolonging his agony’ at Inter or chasing glory in Turin.
