Inter will allow Sebastiano Esposito to train with Antonio Conte and the first-team squad throughout this season, according to Gazzetta dello Sport.
The 17-year-old took advantage of a striker shortage in preseason to collect 361 minutes of football in six friendlies, starting against Manchester United, Juventus, Paris Saint-Germain and Tottenham.
Romelu Lukaku and Lautaro Martinez’s precarious fitness levels mean the forward is likely to feature at some point against Lecce on Monday.
But he will mostly play with Armando Madonna’s Primavera side this year, with Conte and Beppe Marotta keen to let him develop away from the spotlight for now.
Esposito had more minutes in preseason than any other Inter forward and proved he was not fazed by the pressure of playing with those older than him.
His best chance of racking up game time in the first team will come during the first few weeks of the season, as Conte’s more senior options continue to search for peak fitness.
