Inter rejected an approach from Fiorentina for Matteo Politano today, according to GianlucaDiMarzio.com.

The Viola announced the arrival of former Bayern Munich winger Franck Ribery this morning and are now looking for another wide forward.

Piero Ausilio received a call from sporting director Daniele Prade and reiterated Inter’s desire to keep Politano away from the transfer market.

“Inter’s position is firm at the moment and there doesn’t appear to be much chance they will change their mind,” a report read.

Politano scored six goals for the Nerazzurri last season before completing a permanent move for €20 million in June.

Antonio Conte’s 3-5-2 system is thought to be unsuited to the 25-year-old, but Politano did spend half a season playing as a second striker under Beppe Iachini at Sassuolo.

Earlier tonight, Fiorentina’s chief adviser Joe Barone refused to deny they were interested in signing the Italy international.

The Italian-American told Sky Sport: “The transfer market brings innovations and new developments every day. Let’s keep working and we’ll see what the market brings us.

“Everyone here is doing a great job and if opportunities arise we’ll be ready to take them.”
