Former Italian international striker Luca Toni has shared his views on the ongoing saga involving Inter striker Mauro Icardi.

“If I were Mauro Icardi, I would opt to join Napoli. Their system enchances players like Icardi. I would be surprised though if he went to Juventus because I can not see him working well alongside Ronaldo,” Toni told Gazzetta dello Sport.

“Icardi has found himself in a mess he did not expect to. Between himself and his wife, they have ruined everything which is too bad because he has always been good on the field.”

He then discussed comparisons that have been made to Romelu Lukaku.

“Is he or Lukaku stronger? Lukaku never really exploded. He is another striker who needs to score a lot to place himself among the best. He is good but maybe not very good. In Italy he will definitely have to prove his worth.”

Toni also discussed the seemingly imminent arrival of Alexis Sanchez at Inter.

“Sanchez is very good. He is unpredictable and he creates so many difficulties for the defenses and scores a lot.”
