Inter are only fifth in Serie A’s league table of revenue from shirt sponsorship deals, Gazzetta dello Sport revealed this morning.

The Nerazzurri receive €10.5 million per season from Pirelli, leaving them behind Sassuolo, Juventus, Milan and Roma.

Pirelli’s current deal expires in 2021 and it seems unlikely Suning will agree to extend it any further.

Gazzetta’s financial correspondent Marco Iaria reported: “Juventus and Inter both have deals which no longer respect the club’s commercial value, which is growing globally.

“Pirelli guarantee Inter lots of bonuses but the Nerazzurri aspire to earn a lot more.”

Sassuolo patron Giorgio Squinzi secured an €18 million shirt deal with Mapei after also agreeing to rename the club’s stadium and training ground.

Juventus are second with €17 million, with Milan and Roma tied in third place on €14 million and Napoli just behind Inter on €9 million.

The report also explained how sleeve sponsors have failed to catch on among Italy’s top clubs, unlike in England where Arsenal and both Manchester clubs earn €10 million annually.

Premier League clubs earn a total of €440 million each season, according to figures from Sporting Intelligence and offthepitch.com, which is more than four times what Serie A receives.
