Inter remain Serie A’s ‘most followed club’ after selling more than 40,000 season tickets for the new season, as confirmed by Libero this morning.

Italy’s top flight is expected to enjoy increased attendances this year after recording an average of 25,068 in the 2018-19 campaign.

Last year’s tally was the highest recorded figure in a decade and the Nerazzurri were leading the charge as ever.

Libero’s report also praised Milan for their 30,000 season ticket sales, while expressing ‘surprise’ at Lecce’s figure of 18,000.

“There’s a new record on the horizon because Serie A, to Claudio Lotito’s delight, have welcomed back some great historic clubs like Lecce, Verona and Brescia, who have reopened their season ticket campaign after the arrival of Mario Balotelli,” it said.

Cristiano Ronaldo’s arrival at Juventus was also credited for the rise in ticket sales, having led to a general upturn in interest from so-called ‘neutrals’.

Inter’s first match at San Siro this season will be against Lecce on Monday night, with more than 60,000 tickets already sold for the occasion.
