Antonio Candreva sung Antonio Conte’s praises this morning and confirmed he was pleased to have been reunited with him at Inter.

Conte coached the forward for two years while in charge of the Italian national team, where Candreva played in the same right wing-back position he is likely to fulfill this season.

He also made an attempt to sign the former Lazio man during his time at Chelsea, but Inter refused to do a deal with the Premier League club.

Candreva told Sport Mediaset today: “I’d give anything for Conte. Whatever he asked me to do I’d do without any fear. I have huge respect for him and we have a great working relationship after our two years together with the national team.

“He did want me at Chelsea but that’s water under the bridge now. I’m happy to have stayed at Inter and to have joined up with him again here.

“Conte will not only improve myself and peak my enthusiasm, he will provide an added value for everyone at Inter and improve everyone in the squad he has available.

“His history speaks for itself, we all know he’s a great coach and we can’t wait to start the new season with him on Monday.”

Candreva was also asked to comment on the bizarre situation surrounding Mauro Icardi’s future, but the Italian refused to be drawn on the matter.

“It’s better not to talk about this because these are important off-pitch issues which Mauro and the club will sort out between themselves,” Candreva added.
