Inter are still waiting to complete a deal to sign Alexis Sanchez from Manchester United, as reported by Corriere dello Sport and Gazzetta dello Sport this morning.
United do not intend to keep the forward beyond 2 September and are likely to exclude him again from tomorrow’s Premier League fixture against Crystal Palace.
However, the clubs have not yet reached an agreement over how to divide up Sanchez’s astronomical annual salary.
Inter are only prepared to pay €4 million of the €12 million he is due to receive between September and June, but United are reluctant to cover the remainder and want Sanchez to take a small wage cut.
Antonio Conte is thought to be ‘anxious’ as he awaits another reinforcement in attack, having been told that Sanchez may not arrive now until the start of next week.
Inter contacted Fernando Llorente’s agent again yesterday as a precautionary measure, although Napoli and United themselves remain interest in the former Tottenham striker too.
United could sign Llorente as a replacement to Sanchez but this will not influence their decision to let the Chilean leave in any way.
However, CdS did suggest there was ‘a bit of concern’ creeping in at Inter behind the scenes, despite their claims that they remain optimistic of getting a deal done.
