Mauro Icardi is all but certain to be left out of Inter’s match-day squads to play Lecce and Cagliari, according to Corriere dello Sport.

The striker is out of Antonio Conte’s plans for the coming season and is also still on the transfer market, meaning the club have every reason to exclude him.

Inter are unlikely to reintegrate Icardi into the first-team fold if he stays beyond the closure of the transfer window, but the Nerazzurri must be careful with how they handle him.

Article 15 of FIFA’s regulations on the status and transfer of players gives Maurito the right to terminate his contract if he does not feature in at least 10% of the club’s competitive matches this season.

Inter would most likely be tempted to keep Icardi in the stands all season, in order to avoid distractions, but this would clearly be a risky move.

The 26-year-old has still not been welcomed back into full training, despite a formal request from his entourage via a legal adviser, finishing yesterday’s training session on his own.
