Nicola Ventola has shared his hopes for a resolution to the seemingly never ending Mauro Icardi saga at Inter.

Last season saw the relationship between the club and Icardi breakdown entirely due to several off-field problems and earlier this Summer he was told he was no longer considered as part of the club’s project.

Despite this, Icardi still remains with the club with the end of the transfer window in sight and he reportedly wants to remain with the club even though he is unlikely to ever player for the club again.

“He will certainly make the best choice for himself,” former Inter striker Ventola began an interview with RTV.

“It is a problem that needs to be solved at the root and it would be a pity if it had to be solved through legal channels.

“He is young and he has to play. I hope everything ends up for the best.”

Icardi has drawn links to both Napoli and Juventus and Ventola concluded by sharing where he hopes the 26-year-old ends up.

“Napoli or Juve? Icardi is a good player, I hope he goes abroad at this point.”
