Mauro Icardi will not be part of Inter’s matchday squad for tomorrow night’s 2019/20 Serie A season opener at home to newly promoted Lecce according to a report from Corriere dello Sport.

Icardi’s looming exclusion should not come as any real surprise to anyone given he was told in no uncertain terms by Inter’s management that he is no longer considered as part of the club’s project.

He will also more than likely be omitted from the squad for the game against Cagliari too.

The 26-year-old looked set to leave the club over the Summer but no move has transpired and he and his controversial wife, and agent, Wanda Icardi seem intent on remaining in Milan now.

Napoli are Icardi’s only option to leave at the moment and they are expecting a response from him and his management in the coming days as to whether he wants to move to the Stadio San Paolo or not.

Icardi has reportedly been holding out for a move to Inter’s arch-rivals Juventus but the Bianconeri have made no attempt whatsoever to sign him.
