Cagliari could be without their star striker Leonardo Pavoletti when they play Inter at the Sardegna Arena on Sunday.

Pavoletti worked alone in training yesterday as the Rossoblu stepped up preparation for their second league match of the season.

Rolando Maran’s side completed a series of physical exercises in the morning before moving onto tactical work in the afternoon.

“First they practiced defensive situations and possession, then they worked all over the pitch with opposing teams, and then they played a practice match on a 70-metre pitch,” Cagliari’s website reported.

Fabrizio Cacciatore also worked apart from the first team as he continued his personalised training program.

Cagliari lost their opening match of the season at home to Brescia and they will be looking to put things right this weekend.

Inter will hope to make it six points from six at the weekend after Monday’s comfortable 4-0 win against Lecce at San Siro.

Antonio Conte is likely to have Diego Godin available again after the defender took part in a practice match at Appiano Gentile yesterday.
