Cristiano Biraghi described his return to Inter as a dream come true today after completing a loan move from Fiorentina.
The Italy international spent seven years in the Nerazzurri’s youth system before leaving to join Chievo in 2014.
He made 35 league appearances for Vincenzo Montella’s side last season and has now earned the chance to return home.
“I come from a family of Interisti so they transferred this footballing faith to me,” Biraghi told Sky Sport.
“Playing with the Inter shirt on has always been my dream. I managed it nine years ago, first with the Primavera and then with the first team [in the Champions League], but I was a youngster and I wasn’t ready to play at that level.
“I’ve collected a lot of experience since, I’ve improved and now I’m back.”
Biraghi believes he has returned to Inter at the right moment of his career, having reached a newfound level of maturity both on and off the pitch.
“I think I’ve reached the right standard to make myself an option for this great club,” he added.
“Now I need to prove I’m good enough to stay here, but I’m ready. There’s a serious atmosphere at the club and everyone is working towards an important objective, to take Inter back to where they belong.
“I’ll try and get used to the team’s mechanisms straightaway. I saw the match against Lecce and you could see the intensity of their play.
“The new signings here are players of an international pedigree, who’ve done well in several leagues and with their national teams.
“They can improve the team’s level of quality, and when that happens it increases the level of quality in training too. And that makes everything easier when it comes to match day.”
