Andrea Ranocchia is expected to keep his place in Inter’s starting XI when they play Cagliari on Sunday night, according to Corriere dello Sport.

The Italian stepped in at the last minute on Monday when Stefan de Vrij suffered a problem in the warm-up before the match against Lecce.

De Vrij and Diego Godin will both be available for Antonio Conte at the Sardegna Arena, but he is likely to put his faith in Ranocchia again alongside Danilo D’Ambrosio and Milan Skriniar.

Romelu Lukaku and Lautaro Martinez will start up front while Stefano Sensi is again likely to be preferred over Nicolò Barella.

Barella will be making an emotional return to Sardinia this weekend after leaving Cagliari to join Inter in July.

The 22-year-old may have to make do with another substitute appearance, however, with Matias Vecino and Marcelo Brozovic favourites to partner Sensi in midfield.

Inter’s probable starting XI vs Cagliari (3-5-2): Handanovic; D’Ambrosio, Ranocchia, Skriniar; Candreva, Vecino, Brozovic, Sensi, Asamoah; Lukaku, Lautaro.
