Monaco have ended their interest in signing Mauro Icardi, according to Sky Sport.
The Ligue 1 club waited until last night for a response from the Inter striker and have now decided to chase Jean-Kevin Augustin from RB Leipzig instead.
Inter are said to be furious with Icardi’s umpteenth refusal to leave the club, despite all evidence pointing to him having no future in Milan.
However, their anger is mostly related to the legal action Icardi has now started against them, from which he hopes to earn €1.5 million in damages.
Inter received an email from the striker’s lawyers at 21.43 CET last night, confirming they would be suing the Nerazzurri in a bid to earn full reintegration in training.
It remains to be seen what impact this will have on Icardi’s immediate future, with the transfer window not due to close until 23.00 CET on Monday.
Antonio Conte has excluded Icardi from all tactical-related exercises at Appiano Gentile this summer but involved him in every other part of training.
Icardi believes he has a right to take part in all drills and wants to force his way back into the first-team fold.
