Mauro Icardi is finally considering the idea of leaving Inter this summer, according to Gazzetta dello Sport.

The striker reiterated his desire to stay with the Nerazzurri when he met the club’s president Steven Zhang on Tuesday.

But Alexis Sanchez’s arrival from Manchester United has helped create doubt in Icardi’s head, after months of intransigence.

Inter are prepared to extend Icardi’s contract so he can leave on loan, with Atletico Madrid now thought to be favourites.

Diego Simeone’s side already made an approach for Maurito earlier in the summer, but the 26-year-old at that point had no interest in moving abroad.

It seems something might be changing now, however, with only three days left until the transfer window shuts.

Icardi and Wanda Nara are interested in signing for the Colchoneros for both technical and logistical reasons.

Atletico are involved in the Champions League this season and this is thought to be a key condition for Icardi if he leaves Inter.

Monaco were prepared to offer Icardi a monstrous annual salary worth €10 million, but the Ligue 1 side were turned down because they are not playing in Europe’s top club competition.

Juventus, Napoli and Paris Saint-Germain all still have a chance of clinching a deal, although PSG’s interest will depend on whether they complete a deal to sell Neymar.

Wanda is trying to convince Icardi he needs to leave Inter given the situation which has arisen between the striker and the club.

Icardi’s wall is finally trembling and now it is not so inconceivable he could depart.
