Inter have held talks with Mario Gotze about a possible free transfer switch to the club next Summer according to a report from Gazzetta dello Sport.

The 27-year-old German, who is currently on the books of Borussia Dortmund, has just nine months remaining on his current contract with the Signal Iduna Park outfit.

The report from the Milan based news outlet goes on to detail that the talks between Nerazzurri representatives and the 2014 World Cup winner did not lead to an agreement being found but does not rule out that the parties could meet again to discuss terms again.

Gotze has made 200 first-time appearance for Dortmund either side of a spell with rivals Bayern Munich. The attacking midfielder, has scored 42 goals and provided 60 assists for teammates for der BVB.

This season he has made two appearances, both of which off the substitutes bench, but has been unable to score or assist.
