Mauro Icardi was only ever going to move to a club abroad to secure his exit from Inter according to a report from Sport Mediaset.
All Summer long, reports suggested that the 26-year-old was only wanting a move to Inter’s arch-rivals Juventus but the Argentine striker joined Paris Saint Germain on a season long loan from Inter on transfer deadline day on Monday with the Parisian club having an option to buy him for a reported sum of €70 million.
The report from the broadcaster goes on to state that American sportswear brand Nike were also pushing for Icardi to join the Parc des Princes outfit. Icardi himself is sponsored by Nike who also supply the Ligue 1 club with their kits and other merchandise.
Former Sampdoria man Icardi has been sponsored by Nike since 2013 and signed a new nine year contract extension with them back in December 2018, therefore tying him to them until 2027.
