Sassuolo director Giovanni Carnevali has admitted to being unsurprised by how successful Stefano Sensi has been at Inter following his Summer transfer to the Nerazzurri.

Sensi arrived at Inter on loan with an option to buy set at €25 million and was initially expected to be a rotational player in Antonio Conte’s side.

The Italian midfielder has however surprised the majority of the Inter fan base with his early performances in an Inter shirt with him arguably being man of the match in both of Inter’s first two Serie A games of the 2019/20 season.

Sensi scored in Inter’s 4-0 rout of Lecce on the opening day of the season and won the penalty which led to Romelu Lukaku scoring the winning goal in Sunday’s 2-1 win away to Cagliari.

“I never had any doubts. On Sunday night I spoke with Beppe Marotta and he spoke very highly about Sensi to me,” Carnevali remarked in an interview with Rome based news outlet Corriere dello Sport.
