Stefan de Vrij trained separately to the rest of his Inter teammates today in training as he attempts to recover from injury according to a report from FCInterNews.it.

The Dutch central defender has been forced to skip international duty with the Netherlands due to sustaining a muscle injury in the warm-up prior to Inter’s Serie A opening fixture against Lecce.

The former Lazio man was forced to sit out of the 4-0 rout of the newly promoted Giallorossi and also missed Sunday’s 2-1 away over Cagliari which was marred by controversy after Romelu Lukaku was subjected to racist abuse from a portion of Cagliari supporters.

de Vrij did not do anything too strenuous and it should become clear on either Tuesday or Wednesday next week whether he will be able to be available to manager Antonio Conte for Inter’s first game back after the break against Udinese.

Andrea Ranocchia’s solid start to the season and Diego Godin’s recovery from his respective injury problem mean Conte is however calm.
