Legendary Italian manager Marcello Lippi is convinced that Inter manager Antonio Conte could successfully play a 3-4-3 system at Inter if he wanted to.

“I believe Antonio will end up playing with three forwards. Why can’t he play a 3-4-3? He’s already done it in the past and it’s possible with Sanchez and Politano,” Lippi said in an interview with Gazzetta dello Sport.

Inter further strengthened their defence with the signing of Diego Godin over the Summer but Lippi was quick to squash comparisons to another famous defence.

“Before we can compare Godin, De Vrij and Skriniar to Barzagli, Bonucci and Chiellini, they must win something, but it can be done.”

Lippi was also full of praise for Stefano Sensi, who has been the star of the show for Inter this season.

“Sensi is very good. He has ideas, rhythm, positional sense and creates moves.”

Lippi then shared his thoughts on Mauro Icardi’s transfer from Inter to Paris Saint Germain and the arrival of Romelu Lukaku at Inter.

“Icardi had to leave. I won’t say any more than that. I really like Lukaku. He has strength, power, humility, simplicity to his play and pace.”

In conclusion, he spoke on the Serie A title race and whether it will be a three horse race.

“Yes it will be a three horse race. It will be between Juve, Inter and Napoli who are clearly superior to the other sides.”
