Former Inter player Benoit Cauet believes it will not be long until Inter reach previous heights once more with thanks to the current ownership in place.

“I think the difficult years at the club are over. Today the leadership is very serious and have signed important players and know how to achieve great victories. Inter will soon reach the standards of the past again,” he told Il Posticipo.

Cauet, who spent four years on Inter’s books between 1997-2001, then spoke on Mauro Icardi transfer to Paris Saint Germain.

“Icardi was a great player for Inter, a truly great player who showed his quality every year and whos goals allow the team to qualify for the Champions League that they had missed out on for so many years.

He continued: “I think Inter can be considered fortunate to have had him but things did not end well. It was a complex situation that involved lawyers.

“It is too bad that this has happened because Icardi is a player who could have given so much to Inter. He has arrived at a super team in PSG where there are many top players. They want to do great things in the Champions League.”
