Ilkay Gundogan is set to renew his contract with reigning Premier League champions Manchester City according to a report from BILD.

The German midfielder’s contract with the sky blues was set to expire at the end of the current campaign but the Citizens have moved to keep a hold of the 28-year-old, who they signed from German giants Borussia Dortmund back in 2016.

This report from the German news outlet goes on to state that this news will come as a blow to several sides who had been eyeing Gundogan up with a view to signing him on a free transfer next Summer.

Inter and Juventus have both shown an interest in signing him in recent months as have two unnamed Spanish clubs.

Gunodgan has appeared in each of City’s five competitive games so far this season but only two of those appearances have come from the start. In 208 minutes on the field, he has failed to contribute a goal or an assist.
