Sport Mediaset journalist Andersinho Marques has shared his views on Inter owned Gabriel ‘Gabigol’ Barbosa, who is currently starring on loan for Flamengo.
“Right now he is doing very well and he wants to return to the national team. He is scoring lots of goals and is the best striker in Brazil and nobody understands why he was not called up,” he told FCInter1908.it.
“When he was in Italy, Stefano Pioli and Frank de Boer never game him a chance on the field and nobody will ever know why. He was always scoring in training and training hard and did not go out at night’s either. Whilst the quality of the Brazilian league is poor in comparison to the Italian one, for two years in a row he is the best scorer in Brazil so he is certainly not a poor player.”
Marques then went on to discuss Flamengo’s interest in signing him on a permanent basis.
“Flamengo is very well off financially. They have the €18 million that Inter would like for Gabigol in the bank. The club’s intention, as far as I understand it, is to wait and try and get the price down. His agent was in Brazil a few weeks ago and spoke with club leaders.”
He concluded by speaking on whether he thinks Gabigol will get a chance at Inter.
“His dream would be to return to Inter and let them know that leaving him was a mistake. In my opinion, though, Inter won’t take him back. It’s strange, why not give him another chance?”
