Inter’s Slovakian international defender Milan Skriniar was disappointed after Croatia’s 4-0 win over Slovakia in the Euro 2020 qualifying fixture.

The 24-year-old Slovakian spoke to the gathered press in the mixed zone after the game, according to Italian media outlet FcInterNews.

“We were too scared from the beginning. The Croatians have great strength and they easily arrived in our penalty area. We were lucky when they hit the crossbar, but in the second half we were completely lost; we didn’t even manage to commit any fouls to stop them, at least to remind them that we were playing at home.”

When asked about the whistles from the home fans, Skriniar didn’t dismiss them.

“I accept them, we didn’t show anything impressive, and we deserved this slap in the face. If we had done something good, they would have supported us, but it wasn’t our night.”

Finally, the Inter defender spoke about his national team’s next game against Hungary.

“I think it’s a good thing to play in three days because we have to forget about tonight as soon as possible. It won’t be easy in Hungary either, but if we want to qualify, we have to play the game and look for a result.”
