Former AC Milan and Roma coach Fabio Capello told Milano based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport that he thinks the race for this season’s league title will be more close than recent seasons.
“I’ve seen all the big players play a bit, and I feel like saying that Juventus remains the big favourites for the championship, they still have something more than the others. But Inter are getting closer.”
The 73-year-old Italian coach famously led AC Milan to great success in the early 1990’s, including four league titles, three consecutively, a Champions League title and a European Super Cup.
Inter are currently joint top of the table after two wins in the opening two games of the season, with Juventus and Torino sharing the perfect record.
Coach Antonio Conte and CEO Beppe Marotta tightened up the squad heavily this summer in order to compete against Juventus in the title race, with the Bianconeri winning the last eight seasons in a row.
