Inter striker Lautaro Martinez has thanked everyone for the support they gave him off the back of him scoring his first hat-trick for Argentina in their 4-0 friendly rout of Mexico.

“If it was difficult to get here, it is much more difficult to remain permanently in the Albiceleste with so many players of such high quality playing in Europe,” the 22-year-old said in an interview with Fox Sports.

“That is why I wish to I thank Scaloni, his technical staff and my teammates for all the support and trust they give me. I had the support of all the team members yesterday, they trusted me and helped me.”

Having secured his hat-trick, the opportunity presented itself for him to take a penalty but he passed the ball onto Leandro Paredes instead.

“I would have liked to have shot it. The most important thing though is that fortunately everything went well and we achieved a good victory.”
