The Associated Press have rectified an article wherein they made it look like Inter president Steven Zhang was defending fans subjecting players to racism in football.
Romelu Lukaku was subjected to racist abuse in Inter’s match against Cagliari and Inter’s leading ultra group Curva Nord released a letter claiming that what had happened was not racist.
The AP initially mistakenly wrote Zhang’s “a lot of fans, when they did it, the intention was not bad,” comment was made in relation to the Cagliari fans but they have since corrected it to reflect that Zhang’s comment was in fact in relation to the Curva Nord letter.
After some Inter Milan fans defended rival fans’ racist chants, team chairman Steven Zhang says he does not believe their letter was intended to cause offense.
