Legendary Inter defender Giuseppe ‘Beppe’ Bergomi has shared his views on Inter’s Summer signings but firstly spoke on the arrival of Antonio Conte as manager.

“It is already Conte’s Inter. His impact was already visible after the first friendly against Lugano. Conte is like that, he conveys his ideas and the players must respond quickly,” he started an interview with Gazzetta dello Sport.

Bergomi then went on to discuss Inter midfielders Stefano Sensi and Nicolo Barella.

“Sensi has demonstrated in the national team that he has quality and personality. I believe his greatest strength is his ability to play in any role in the midfield to the highest level.”

“Barella arrived late and is still a little behind in terms of knowledge but he has all the characteristics of the ideal midfielder for Conte’s team.”

Bergomi then dismissed the idea that the three man defence of Stefan de Vrij, Milan Skriniar and Diego Godin could struggle.

“I also thought the same thing, but in those few minutes Godin played against Cagliari I was impressed by the attitude of the Uruguayan on the right.”

Next he discussed new Inter attackers Alexis Sanchez and Romelu Lukaku.

“Alexis needs to be at 100% in order to be decisive and Conte is very good at getting players into the right condition. He will make a difference for Inter with his quality.

“Romelu is Inter’s best player, a complete striker who plays for the team, creates space for his teammates and encourages them if they make a mistake. He is exceptional and for me he is the ideal striker.”

He pen-ultimately spoke on another of Inter’s Summer additions in Valentino Lazaro.

“Fr me, he is actually a winger and someone who has always played with someone behind him for protection. He will have to get used to playing up the whole right hand side. He needs time.”

He concluded by revealing his belief that Inter can challenge Juventus all the way for the title.

“I would like to say that if Juve had problems this time Inter will be there to fight with them until the end”
