Journalist Luigi Garlando has called for Antonio Conte’s Inter side to ‘grow in quality’ with the team set to face their first difficult run of fixtures of the season over the coming weeks.

“Before the next international break in October, Inter will face, among others, AC Milan, Lazio, Barcelona and Juventus. Conte needs to take the veil off his Grand Prix car that is his Inter side,” Garlando wrote in a column for Milan based news outlet Gazzetta dello Sport.

“So far, Conte has worked on the engine of the team, that is, his soul. He has done a great job as evidenced by Inter’s pre-season performances and in the match against Lecce, where even at 3-0 they were still trying to attack.

“The perceived step backwards in the match against Cagliari was further confirmation because if you are winning games you lost before, playing badly, with tired legs, it means a new kind of personality has entered your heart. Now the big sides are approaching, Inter must grow in quality.”
