Former Inter forward Ruben Sosa spoke exclusively to Italian media outlet FcInterNews today about the Nerazzurri’s season ahead and last night’s victory over Udinese.

“I was really pleased to be back in San Siro last night to see Inter. On the contrary, I had been missing from Milan for 5 years and it was also the right opportunity to see old friends like Walter and Ricky [Zenga and Ferri] with whom we shared fantastic years and won the 1994 UEFA Cup together. I’ll stay all week in Milan and I’m looking for three tickets for the derby on Saturday night. I don’t want to miss AC Milan, it’s too important a game, of course Forza Inter!”

Sosa then spoke about Inter’s 1-0 victory last night over Udinese.

“Against Udinese it was not easy. Tudor put forward a well-organised team, who defensively conceded very little. It wasn’t easy to win, and it was a tough but important three points for the standings, as Inter are now leading. A victory that can bring great energy and enthusiasm to the whole environment.”

The former Uruguay international then spoke about the Nerazzurri’s chances of winning the title this season.

“Inter have built a great team that can break Juve’s rule after so many years. There’s a strong and well-balanced team in which an Italian soul mixes with the talent of many South Americans, I really like it. It may be the right year to finally see Inter triumph again, I am convinced.”

Sosa found coach Antonio Conte the most important acquisition over the summer.

“A formidable coach. As I always say, a winning and charismatic coach is essential to get to the top and collect trophies. He’s a really good coach, I really like him.”

On the goal assisted by compatriot Diego Godin, the former Inter forward was happy.

“Diego never gives up! He also played very well against Udinese, showing all his charisma on the field. A true leader who will bring his ‘garra’ and his winning mentality into Nerazzurri. The best purchase they could make was him.”

He was also happy to see the acquisition of former Manchester United striker Romelu Lukaku.

“Yesterday he struggled a bit, but in the first games I liked him a lot. He may not be a striker who only thinks about scoring, but he works a lot for the team. He’s ideal for pairing up with a small and fast striker who fits in and sees the goal.”

Finally, Sosa reiterated the importance of thinking game to game.

“You have to think game by game, only in this way you get to the top. Of course, the derby is a unique game and when you win it, it can give a boost to a season. Winning it would give even more conviction and confidence to the whole group, but first there is Slavia Prague and it’s good Conte to keep everyone focused on one game at a time.”
