Inter full-back Kwadwo Asamoah spoke to the gathered reporters in the mixed zone last night after Inter’s 1-0 victory over Udinese and his statements were reported by FcInterNews.
“We’re happy about today’s win because it wasn’t an easy game. Udinese is a tough and physical team; it wasn’t easy but we’re very happy to have brought home the result and we’re happy.”
“We try to bring home the result at every game. It’s not easy but mentally we always want to win and to do that when you go on the pitch you have to do your best.”
Asamoah discussed coach Antonio Conte’s usage of wingbacks.
“It is Conte who wants the wingbacks, every time we have the ball, we need to be as forward as possible, where the attackers are. For us wingbacks, the task is to push when there’s something to do and defend when there’s something to defend.”
The player then looked forward to Inter’s next game against Slavia Prague in their Champions League opener.
“We’re ready for any game, we’re working, we brought home a big game today. Tomorrow we’ll think about the next game.”
Then 30-year-old Ghanaian international talked about Inter’s objectives for the season.
“We have great objectives; every game is very important to us. We’re still at the beginning, we’re happy to be the first in the standings but we have to be ready for any game that comes in.”
Asamoah suggested that the work of the wingbacks was harder than it looked.
“It takes a lot of physical energy to do this job. It’s a job we do every week to improve and it’s not easy because we have to have fun. Sometimes it’s even time to shoot on goal. It’s not an easy role, but we work every day to improve and do the best.”
